Med Surg supplemental text? Which one out of these 2.

Nursing Students General Students

Hi there!

I'm doing fairly well in Med Surg right now I have an 88% however we have a midterm coming up and we only have that & the final! So I really can not afford to "bomb" one of them.

My clinical instructor reccommended Straight A's to Medical Surgical Nursing and other girls have purchased it. I had a chance to look at it and I like how it is pretty much my textbook but summed up without all the fluff!

BUT I see really good reviews for the Saunder's NCLEX Comprehensive Review 5th edition and that would serve many purposes for me.

So for medsurg & nursing school in general which book should I purchase? I can not do both right now so its one or the other.

I ALREADY have the Saunder's in the 4th edition. But of course I want to buy the new one eventually. Should I make that investment now? Or stick with the one I have and get the Straight A's to Med surg?!

I also have Med Surg Success which is pretty good. Haven't looked at it too much.

Thanks for your opinions (:

Save your money; new editions are just the publishers' way of wringing more money out of people. The content is not much different, certainly not worth the $40 or whatever it costs to buy the new edition.

If the money is burning a hole in your pocket, buy a different book.

Well, before you go buy another med-surg book, why don't you use the one you have? Med-surg books aren't worth collecting in bundles.

Buy neither. If you already have an NCLEX book thats one edition behind stick to that for a while. And if you have med-surg success you probably don't need another supplemental med-surg book.

However, if you want another NCLEX book, buy a different one altogether: kaplan, exam cram, whatever.
