I don't know of any off hand. However, if you have any questions that I can answer about the subject post them. I'll be glad to answer them for you.

I really don't know of any sites on the web either. I can give you some advice being a recent grad of less than a year. Practice, practice, practice. Practicing in lab is good but there is nothing as good as the real thing. Always jump at the opportunity to start an IV. I work on an Oncology floor where IV's are an abundance. We have IV therapists in our hospital, but I almost always at least try once. I have about six months experience on my floor and I am better than the majority of nurses at starting IV's because they always rely on IV therapy. Don,t be afraid, reheorifice the steps in your head and the technique will come. Most patients will let you at least try once even if they know you are not very experienced. Good luck!!

Check you tube - there are lots of IV starts there! Also, I would try to practice during your maternal health rotation if you can - pregnanat women are so vascular they are easy to start with!

Hope some of this helps!

i didn't realize this was such an old post when i answered it. however, the links i just posted are good for anyone who is currently reading this thread.

i was an iv therapist for many years and nationally certified in iv therapy as a certified rn, intravenous through the intravenous nurses society. i have set up a bunch of iv weblinks on post #6 of this thread on allnurses: https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/any-good-iv-therapy-nursing-procedure-web-sites-127657.html

there is also a thread on the emergency nursing forum that you will want to read that has been contributed to by many people that has the tips and tricks on starting and maintaining ivs that you are looking for. here is the link to it:

happy reading!
