OK, so my cat was clipped at Petsmart & they cut her. 3 weeks later, she has ringworm. I took her to the vet & they gave me shampoo & spray for her. Having to bath her every 4 days - boy she hates me.

Well, now, I have it. .:imbar Any suggestions on what I can take to cure me? I had clinicals Tuesday & Wednesday & I feel so bad because I could have infected one of my pt.'s (although I always wash my hands & wear gloves.).

Thanks - I'll just be sitting her, itching to death.:o

I've had one before too - kind of gross to think about, isn't it? At least I felt that way - Ewww! LOL :)

You can put athletes foot cream or some other type of topical antifungal on it to relieve the itch - it'll probably go down, but it may come back... you might want to try that, then see your doctor it doesn't seem to be a long-term solution.

Ringworm or tineas is a fungal infection that LOOKS like a worm under the skin, it is not an actual worm.

Medlineplus:

Ringworm usually responds well to self-care within four weeks without having to see a doctor.

Keep your skin clean and dry.

Apply over-the-counter antifungal or drying powders, lotions, or creams. Those that contain miconazole, clotrimazole, or similar ingredients are often effective.

Wash sheets and nightclothes every day while infected.

i had one a few years ago, went thru about 2 months worth of fungal ointment, finally at my annual girlie visit, i asked my doc what to do about it, he said, to make sure it is clean, dry it, and put a coat of clear fingernail polish on it, let that dry and add another coat, sounds funny, but it worked, within a week or two!!!

good luck, those things are buggers!!

Thank you for your input. My husband is going to get me something from the drug store.

I used to work w/race horses, I got it from them. One of the people, whom I trusted, told me that it was a ring of worms/like a dog would get and the best thing to do is squeeze them out. SOOOOOO, like a dumb-a--, I cut open my arm w/ a razor & try digging for them. ( I am scared to death or worms).

Needless to say, I never got any, but he found me passed-out in one of the barn stalls w/blood all over the place. The owner of the horses found out & made him buy me dinner for a week and gave me his horse, Tyler's Best to the races that night & I won over $600.00 :D

That'll teach him.

no!!!!! lol, they aren't REAL worms!!!! lol, sorry to hear about your "accident"??? don't know what to call it!!

Ringworm is not pleasant, my nephew just had it, I can't believe that ringworm can cause so much distress!
