Hi all, our instructor has told us several times that second hand smoke has a direct correlation with increased occurences of SIDS. How do I word that in a nursing diagnosis? I know I can't say SIDS because that is a "medical diagnosis"...but is SIDS like ineffective breathing? Impaired gas exchange? Or risk for injury?
YIKES...Some choices are:
Risk for Ineffective Respiratory Function r/t presence of second hand smoke.
Risk for injury r/t maternal use of tobacco products.
????!!!!

My first thought was ineffective breathing pattern.
