I have to take the American Heart association Healthcare provider training in June. Can anyone tell me what to expect. We have to pass the class before we can begin clinicals. :)

Healthcare provider training? As in CPR for the Professional Rescuer or am I way off base here?

I'm not sure what all is covered. It's an 8 hour course at our local hospital.

The only thing I can think of is CPR or maybe a very basic Aide type class. If all or most of your clinicals are at that facility, I think that would be great. We have clinicals all over & spend half the time trying to figure out where things are and how they do things. Bath, linen, BP machines etc. Good luck, if you were smart enough to be accepted into the program you are smart enough to pass this class.

I took this class on a saturday. It's really easy, nothing to worry about. We went over CPR adult, child, infant, masks, etc......good class!!

I took this a month or so ago. It was all video-based. Watch part of video.....stop and practice in small groups on mannekins.

Checkoffs along the way..and 25 question test at end. Had to get 4 or less incorrect.

Included CPR for adult, child, infant, mask..airway restrictions/Heimlich, etc.... plus AED (automated external defibrillator) training.

There was a 200+ page text to accompany the course. It was suggested the text be read prior to start of class. All questions are covered in the text. (AHA Healthcare provider BLS)
