For those who will graduate soon

Nursing Students General Students

First of all....Congratulations to all of you who will be graduating in the next couple of months. I keep telling myself that next year at this time it will be ME who will be getting ready to graduate. :)

Can anyone tell me if you have been contacted by hospital recruiters....or how you will go about getting your first nursing position? We were having a discussion in school yesterday about this and no one seemed to know if the hospitals contact students in their last year.....or if we will have to take the first step.

Thanks for any info you can provide me.

Hey that's really neat Channa! Too bad you couldn't make it. It really was a nice event. All night I just kept thinking to myself, "I can't believe they went through all this . . . " It had to have cost bundles of bucks!

CRNA....I bet it did cost a bundle, especially with the gift certificates!

Were they offering any interesting internships for new grads? Its just

to far for me to drive on a daily basis. It would be about 45 minutes one

way and that is minus any type of traffic.

I wanted to thank you for the insight on SLU and the different floors!

I did tour once again and interviewed, last week during my spring

break. I interviewed for 9 ICU, it went great and looks like I will be

starting there in June! I am thrilled with the floor, hospital and benefits :)

Will you be staying there upon graduation? Maybe we will have the same

orientation dates!

Best of luck to you! :)

Hey that's great Channa! SLU is really a nice place to work, and I'm really enjoying it there. I am staying there (I just went to St. John's last night for the free stuff. . . I know that's awful :( ), but I'm up on 7ICU. I'll be starting GN orientation in early May, but we may be seeing each other! I'm a night shift kind of gal. What will you be working? You'll definitely meet one of my best friends in the world there. Her name's Kelly, and she's up there on 9ICU too. Did you check into that future nurses program at SLU (that's the program that pays $5000 for a year contract)? If not, you may want to call Tricia Jackson in HR to ask about it.

Hi!

I will be graduating with my BSN in July. My school had a career fair with about 80 institutions recruiting new grads. Also, look in mags such as Nursing Spectrum for healthcare recruitment seminars/conventions in your area. Also, I am going to the NSNA Convention in Philadelphia in April, they will have a career fair there also.

Good Luck.
