About 2 months ago, I started an online student nurse support group using AOL Instant Messenger. We are all student nurses who use this forum, and we like to get together when we happen to be online.
Many members of the group have asked me to find experienced nurses in the ICU and NICU, L&D, ER, Cardiac, Home Health, Med-Surg nurse that would be willing to field questions from the other members. The only requirements are that you are not the "eat the young type", as we are students, and that is not the kind of support that we need. We use AOL Instant Messenger to chat, and if you use this service, and would be willing to mentor a few students from all over the globe, please reply to this message, and I will make sure that All members of the support group get your screen name added to their lists. We currently have 50 members, and are growing every day.

Me too! Zee_RN was taken too so my AOL name is Zeecubed. I am an ICU nurse with med-surg and a little LTC in the past too.

I'm always interested in helping students. The instructors that come to our hospital's ICU specifically ask for me when they bring students to the unit because they know I'll look out for them.
it's pretty col that there is a program out there that can do all that. Thing is......many of the aol IM names are different then the board names.....and since half the people dont even answer..guess it dont matter.

Trillian works well for talking one on one, but it is not compatible with the group chat function, and since we all get together in one room to talk, those with trillian can't participate in the group discussions.
Its a good idea though! just wish it would have worked :)
Group chat is actually designed for chatrooms but its good to know aol IM works (although aol is probably the slowest, spammest, most expensive ISP out there- its nice to use the IM without having to have aol as an iSP)
