I hate finals, but especially ones where the professor emails everyone telling them to eat and drink before the final (we are usually allowed to at least have a covered drink in class), and be ready to WRITE. No computers, bring LOTS of pencils and a 10-lb eraser! And it will be a 3 hour exam where we have to write a paper on a topic of her choosing. We must do an outline, and drafts, and show all re-writes and corrections.
The only plus (for me) is since it's in class and not the library, I won't have to do a reference page. Those always get me. We have to write in APA format, and I always screw up what gets capitalized and italicized, no matter how many times I look at the book.
Plus, it will be open book. I guess that is another plus, too!

I have yet to experience an exam like that, and from what you described, I hope I never do! But, I can only hope. Good luck on your exam:)
It went okay last night. We got to do our essay on whatever subject we wanted. My topic - the Red Sox! :)
Turns out our final exam will be graded by OTHER professors, not our regular one. She took me aside after reading mine, and said to expect an A - both of the profs that will be reading it are Red Sox fans! She couldn't believe I knew so much about baseball and the Sox - like it's a guy thing or something. I just told her I live and breathe the Red Sox, just like the rest of my family, and being a fan is not gender specific. That clammed her up! LOL
