Why does it ask you personal questions?

Ex: "Have you had a recent addition to your family?"

I realize my Nursing Program office wants to guage how successful I will be in my studies, but I didn't appreciate being asked such personal questions on a computerized test. Where do my answers go? Who sees them? Is it stored somewhere and if so, how long? I would much rather have answered those type of questions in a personal interview.
