It took three lottery attempts, plus passing the TEAS (new this year), and I finally made it!

I was hoping to find others also starting the LMC RN Program this August, how many tries it took for you to get in, where you were on the list, what you thought about the TEAS, and generally how you're feeling about the whole thing.

 I'm a good mixture of nervous and excited :yeah:

Hi there! I'm starting at LMC this fall...and it also took me 3 attempts plus the TEAS. I was an alternate, so I wasn't even expecting that I'd get in, but I was never as happy to hear from anyone in my life as I was when the lady from admissions called me and told me I was in!! I'm still waiting for my packet so I don't know any details yet....but I am very excited, and a little bit nervous....but mostly just so, so happy that I'm in!!

Can't wait to meet you!

Wait, lol....something tells me I already know you, haha!!! ;-)

Yes, MisStake, I think you do! I am hoping that others will post, and we can get a bit of a support system set up ahead of time.

Anyway, It's worth a try.

so INSANELY jealous of you guys! lol

i'm finishing my last pre requisite this fall and it just makes me so anxious that i might have to wait 3 cycles, ugh!

anyway.. congrats to all of you that have been accepted. best of luck to you!!!

Your time will come too :nurse: It has become so difficult to get into RN programs anymore :banghead:

What is your strategy -- do you plan on applying everywhere within a reasonable distance? It took me three tries, but I only applied at LMC. Had I applied to more programs I may have been finished by now. It's a very individual choice. I know others who just wanted to get it over with and applied everywhere and didn't have to wait as long. One of them graduated last December from SJD in Stockton, another one will graduate from Napa this December; a third one started at LMC's LVN program, then got accepted at Napa after his first semester and he will graduate next fall as an RN. All three of these people finished their prerequisites one to three semesters before me. It's definitely a long, frustrating road for most; but I'm sure it will be well worth it. So, just make a plan, do all you can, and leave the rest to fate. :wshgrt: It will all happen when and where it's supposed to happen.

:tinkbll: I hope that you are one of the charmed and get in first try :wink2:

You might be surprised. I met a few people while taking the TEAS test and, at the time, I was still an alternate and didn't even know if I was in yet....and it seemed every person I talked to there had applied for their first time and got in! Talk about wanting to bang your head against the wall!! As Ms. Luckeyme above knows, it has been a looooooooooooooong frustrating road, but I know in two years, it will all have been worth it....and things will have worked out exactly the way they were supposed to! I'm so glad I get to go through the program with her....she's a fantastic lab partner/study buddy!!!

Keep positive and good luck, and hopefully we'll see/meet you next year ;-)

thanks so much for the encouragement.

i am applying to multiple schools.. but i live in oakley (far east bay) so LMC would just be PERFECT, my number one choice by far; unless of course i got accepted at cal state east bay.. but that won't happen for awhile because i haven't finished all the pre reqs for an associates let alone a bachelors.

but you know, i'll just keep on going until i make it.. someday i know it will but the waiting will just be excrutiating!

and i can't wait for that commraderie (sp?) that i can see you two are already forming. i bet it will be quite an experience. share ALL the details. :)

I'm in Oakley too!! I didn't apply anywhere else, even though I knew it would increase my chances of finishing sooner. I didn't have enough classes for Cal State East Bay (I need three more math classes, ick!!) and I have two small kids so I couldn't be commuting a great distance for school every day. LMC is really the only school that would work for me!! I'm just so glad it worked out!!

teampierce, it sounds like you have a great attitude and will do just fine. Just apply and work on finishing the Associate degree pre-reqs while you wait. The waiting won't be as excruciating as you think -- although there will most likely be some very frustrating moments. Life has a funny way of throwing so many distractions in our path to get too caught up in all of the RN program distress -- also making the time fly by.

I live in Antioch and really wanted to be accepted at LMC too. But, had I not been accepted at LMC this time around, Cal State East Bay was my plan B. I only had two pre-reqs left for them and I would have taken them this fall.

Camaraderie :icon_hug: I was at work when I received an e-mail from MisStake letting me know that she finally made it too (I was #1 on the alternate list and she was #17). I got so excited that I startled my coworkers. :yeah: I felt I could finally be truly excited for myself too. Although I only know her from one class, we have managed to keep in contact through e-mail over the years. I have taken over 50 classes at LMC and have never hit it off so quickly or strongly with a class mate as I did with her. We were great together. I hope that you too will find your own MisStake -- and I'm sure you will because I just think it's meant to be that way.

Good Luck and hang in there -- good things are coming your way!
