  1. i mailed off my first application monday, won't hear back on that one until may... the other 2 schools start accepting applications february 1st. i'm so excited to be applying!! i'm applying to three adn programs: los medanos cc san joaquin delta cc solano cc all in the sf bay area
  2. aw thanks for the encouragment guys :) i'm finishing my last pre req this fall & then i begin the task of applying, i've got about 7 schools in a 60 mile radius. i feel so calm with the whole process of it until i come onto allnurses forums and i read about how excited people are, how they just got accepted, or how they've been denied for the third time and i just wonder what my fate will be. i knew from a very young age i wanted to be a nurse so it's hard to even begin to think of a back up degree, which this thread has certainly encouraged me to do. again thanks :)
  3. it makes me so darn anxious! when i hear people talking about being accepted or having to wait 3 years to be accepted it just makes the butterflies in my stomach start a fluttering. lol. anyone else? sheesh how am i going to stand actually applying and hearing back?
  4. MisStake... i don't even know you and i could almost cry for you. that is just so wonderful, congrats on getting IN!!!!!
  5. one of the tougher subjects/chapters was on cellular respiration... be on the look out for that stuff.. i had to study VERY hard to get an A in micro, hardest class *for me* to date.. much harder then A&P imho.
  6. Yay for sahm's.. I'm one too and I am in a similar situation to you. I go to school at night when hubby can stay with our two children. Money is a factor and so is daycare paranoia! lol. Okay I mean well here, so don't take this the wrong way.. but sometimes when people are ambivelent (sp?) about things, such as starting to go to school again , the significant other senses leeway to push the idea aside. Do you know his work schedule? Make yourself a school schedule and show him, tell him how HAPPY this will make you.
  7. I'm taking: nutrition (online) prealgebra political science (us government) history (civil war to present) (online) Yay.. easy after taking all that science stuff. :)
  8. So my micro final is tonight. I planned on selling my micro book back, but now I'm having second thoughts, my teacher had mentioned that some of the material would be on the NCLEX.. So I'm wondering if maybe I should just hold onto it.. Any thoughts? PS I'm going to fluff my feathers here and tell you all I'm well on my way to an A in the class, which has been quite an accomplishment for me, this class was HARD, well imo.
  9. Not selfish at all. You're very lucky that your husband supports that!
  10. Hi! Stay at home mother of 2 here, 6 yo boy and 13 mo girl. What you've described sounds do-able because it's online and they are not the real demanding science classes.(otherwise I'd say "are you crazy?") It's probably going to be stressful though. Good luck deciding. :)
  11. Okay don't laugh,.. but there are fertility clinics around that pay 5,000 dollars for egg donations. For some reason that is the only thing that came to mind. But you are saying you can't get a personal loan? What about family members?
  12. On Tuesday we began a three day lab unknown. One of the things we did was a streak plate. The problem is I blanked and didn't flame my loop in between streaking the 3 different areas.. Am I not going to able to get isolated colonies tonight when I go to lab? Or do you think I might be okay? To clarify I dipped my loop into the broth once and streaked 3 areas with that. Wasn't I supposed to dip and flame in between each streaking? Gah.. i'm not even sure I'm using the correct terminology.

  14. Hi Liz. Welcome to the group. I have gathered a lot of motivation and reconfirmation of my dream to become a nurse from these forums. So I hope that we can help you in your quest as well. Good Luck. As a mother I can totally understand your hesitency (sp?) about med school. While some women's personalities are hardier then others, I know that *I* would not be happy if I made that sort of time commitment somewhere other than my children. Either way you can make a sound decision that makes sense to YOU.. So search your heart. :)
  15. woah..You are talking about college right? I read plenty of horrible essays in English as well. I figured it wasn't my job to make anything but vague suggestions that were not even close to criticism for that very reason.. Plus at the end of the day it didn't matter to me (for lack of a better phrase) what sort of grade they got in the class. I can't believe your lab classmates. Don't they know that copying is not going to help them anyway. Hope it gets better for ya :)
