Do we have to wait until we have the title RN before we can take an ACLS course? I am planning on working either on a cardiac unit or the ED, so either way, I will need the course. Anyone know? -Andrea

No you do not have to be an RN to take ACLS. Nursing students are good candidates for the course, among others who take it include: EMT's, Paramedics, even seen LPN's and Nurse Tech's (CNS's for ER or ICU) though LPN's and Nurse tech's cannot give any of the drugs they have taken it for general knowledge since they help in codes in ICU and ER.
Good Luck To you..
