Accelerated BSN or Direct entry master's ?

Hi,

Looking at going back to do nursing but I already have a BS degree. MY ultimate goal is to get a master's but I really don't know in what. I like babies and geriatrics. Should I do the BSN program first and then go for a master's or should I do a direct entry master's program.

Thanks

I looked at every possible option and found the one best for me. It depends what your goals are. I want to graduate and go to work asap, so the accelerated was the best for me. You'll have to factor in cost and waiting periods to get into a program as well.

Key question - what is your BS in?

I have a BA in English and worked as a magazine editor before entering an accelerated BSN program. If you have a background that does not include science/biology or health, I personally would recommend NOT doing an accelerated option. It has been hard for me to keep up since I don't have the science background.

I have a health background. My BS is in business but before this I was a nursing major. I don't know why I switched.

That should make it easier for you, then! I would hold off on the master's until you know what you want to do it in...but that's just me! That's what I'm doing...want to get my feet wet first and then decide. Leaning towards an MPH though.

Good luck with your decision and with school!
