wow. i start brevard community college's lpn program 1/17/08. i knew it was going to be hard, but 10 classes seems crazy. i will be in school from 8am to 4:30pm, m-f. clinical days start at 7am. does anyone else have this many classes?

I took 16 credits my second semester and took classes for 2 summers to even out the load during regular semesters. My school is 18 or 19 credits a semester but our nursing course is only one course and is a combination of several subjects and it's 9 credits.
It's tiring but you can do it. Good luck.:)

It won't be boring, and you'll be too busy to clock watch. Keep in mind that finially in your education, you are taking classes that are all 100% relevant to your future career.
You may just enjoy it. It's not so tough when they're subjects that you can count on being useful later on.
Lastly...some programs (like the one that I'm halfway through) have even heavier courseloads. (18 first semester, 23 the next!) so count your blessings:welcome:
thanks for the support.

# of credits can be misleading at times in NS - they tweak it to work with people's financial aid at my school. For example, my 20 hour a week accelerated clinical, for Med Surg I, II, and Psych, is only worth 3 (possibly 4) credits. Several of our classes are only worth 2 credits, for the same reason. I have a previous degree, so I don't need the credit hours, and having fewer of them saves me money.

Don't be too worried over the number of classes. Once you get started you will get into the rhythm of school and won't notice so much. Good luck with school. Make sure you start off on the right foot by not worrying but instead getting everything you need to get and stay organized.
