i just graduated high school and want to pursue my career in nursing. My plan was to take my general ed. and pre-requisites at a Junior college, then transfer to a state college for my nursing classes. However I was wondering if there was some sort of volunteer program, like the red cross, were they would teach you what you need to do, and in return you would work there for a certain number of years. I have no idea if this sort of program exist's but thought this would be a good place ask.
You may be trained to work as a tech or an aid on the job but I really doubt if you can get a nursing license that way. There's much more to nursing than just the hands on part. You need to know the theory of it, the "why" part.
