Hi all, i just got offered two jobs in Northern Ca, looking for some advice. My ultimate goal is to get into a hospital as l&d, maternity or Peds nurse. which job has the best potential & why

Job 1: Specialty center, i'd be working as lead nurse with other health professionals like OT, PT, MDs. Direct hire, M-F, paid holidays. 40min drive from home.

Job 2: Advice Nurse at County Hospital, working with veteran nurses. Staffing agency with direct hire potential, hospital scedule including nights & weekend no differential. Close to home.

Same pay by the way.

Specializes in M/S, LTC, Corrections, PDN & drug rehab.

Are there benefits with the first job? If there are I would be more likely to take a job that I get benefits through.

Thank you for your response. Both offer insurance & 401k. The first job has Pto, sick days. Job 2 has potential for great benefits if I was hired permanantly.

I would take job 1. You never know if you will, for sure get a permanent position.

Specializes in OB-Gyn/Primary Care/Ambulatory Leadership.

What does a nurse at a "specialty center" do? What exactly is a specialty center? Is this ambulatory care? Is it affiliated with a hospital?

Hi, thanks for responding. Yes I was being intentionally vauge; my duties would include gtube feeding, vent managment, report writing, blood draw, med pass, assessment. Private pay outpatient & inpatient not affiliated with a hospital. The company is top of the line with PT, but not nursing.
