      ADN to MSN FNP

I am looking to continue my education and wanted to get feedback on which is the better career path. ADN to MSN in Leadership and Education or ADN to MSN FNP. Both are enticing to me!

Specializes in CCRN.

These are two very different career paths. Which one would be better is strictly a matter of opinion and depend on what you want to do with your future in nursing. For me personally, neither one. I had thought about becoming a NP, but realized that wasn't the path I wanted for my future. I know I also don't want to be an administrator. I'm going for my MSN Nurse Educator.

Specializes in Nursing Professional Development.

Agree with the poster above. There are far more choices than just the 2 listed -- and you should choose the one that matches your natural talents and preferences. If you still don't know what type of work you want to do in the long run, then you are not ready for grad school. Maybe you should just get your BSN now and use that time to learn more about yourself and nursing so that you can make a choice that is right for you regarding graduate school.

The ADN to MSN is a great option for people who know what specialty is right for them -- but it is not the right choice for people who don't yet know the type of work they want to specialize in.
