Which area of nursing?

Nurses General Nursing

Good afternoon, I'm trying to decide if I should be a nurse. I plan on starting my certification in august for phlebotomy but can't decide on nursing. I want to be a RN in pre OP, is that a thing? I don't mind both pre op and post op but I don't want to end up in a operating room. I have IBS and have to run to the bathroom sometimes so I def. Can't be in there lol. I also wouldn't like to work in the ER. Is it possible to go to nursing school and then work pre op or post op. I have a thing for cosmetic surgery I used to want to be one so it'd be a dream to work post op for people coming out of cosmetic surgery? I apologize for being all over the place. TiA

Nursing school helps you to find your niche. Clinical experiences will help you to experience many different areas. I can tell you that when I started, I had my ideas too. I am not working in any of those areas and love what I do. Best thing is to keep an open mind and don't rush in deciding where you want to work until closer to the end of school.

I work post op (PACU) and bathroom breaks are at the mercy of whatever is happening that day. My patients are 1:1, if everyone else has patient too, I have to wait between patients for bathroom breaks. On call I am the only RN (sometimes person) there, which means if I really had to go and couldn't hold, I'd have to call the nursing supervisor (who doesn't have PACU experience and really has no idea how to care for /chart on my patient) and hope they got there on time.
