Hello,

I would like advice on my next step...I am a new RN but I have been an LPN previously (5 years). I was offered a job on a med surge/tele unit(internship) at a local hospital and I accepted BUT the next day I got a call from two other hospitals wanting to panel interview me for a labor and delivery internship position. I want to know if I should go to the interviews or just stick with the job that I accepted?? On a side note....one of the reasons I went back to school is to become a labor and delivery nurse but now I don't know what to do with this job, I mean i'm not even sure that they will even offer me a l/d position and I don't want to burn my bridges with the place that I did accept the position with. The pay is all the same no matter where I go so that's not a factor BUT the job I accepted is much closer than the other two hospitals that are offering the l/d internship. HELP!!!

Thanks in advance for responses!!!

It couldn't hurt to go to the other interviews to see what the other positions have to offer.

You can always weigh your options once you have an offer from the other facilities.

Good luck with your new role!

Go the the other interviews. Worst case scenario, you get some valuable interviewing experience. Best case, you wind up with the L&D job you want. If your heart is really in L&D, don't miss a chance to get that spot unless the distance is too big of a factor. If it is really what you want, it will be worth a few more minutes in the car. I use my hour and a half commute time to unwind and relax before bringing home stresses of the day to my family. Good luck!
