Hmmm - I would guess that external means that when you bridge from LPN to RN you aren't considered with the newbies but rather on a separate track.
I was an LPN that bridged in 1994 and when I went to register for the bridge program, I was considered an external candidate because all I was doing was finishing the RN portion.

I over heard two nursing students talking the other day when I was getting my hair cut and one of them said that she was External.....It reminded me of the time I was talking to my cousin and she told me that when I bridge from LPN to RN I should be External, but I never got the chance to ask her what she meant by it and honestly forgot about it until the other day. I'm just now going into the LPN program in May so it will be a while before I bridge to RN but I would love to know what External means in advance....Thanks:redpinkhe
