Want to test in different state 2nd time

I took my nclex at the end of June and unfortunately did not pass. I am planning to move out of state next month to a compact state (My current state is not). So would it be better to apply to test in the state im moving to, or retest and have it switched over? It just seems to make more sense to license myself in a compact state! If anyone has done this, or has any insight i would appreciate it. I have tried calling the board of nursing in my new state and they said to take it and get it transferred but i think it would cost just as much or more to do that than to just apply and get another set of fingerprints, etc. I understand the test is the same throughout the nation- just making sure it's ok to apply for license in a new state after failing the first time.

It doesn't matter what state you take the test in, it's a national not state-specific test.
