Hi,
I am a new Lpn, starting BSN in Jan. I would like anyone's
opinion. Whether or not if I should start working as a student nurse in the Birth Center. I would probaly start in the mother
baby unit. I make pretty good money in a nursing home and
would take a big cut in pay because of my noc dif. How-
ever, working in a nursing is not what I wanted to do from
the start. I just wanted to get some experience, I have
been there approx. 7 mos. Any help on this matter would
be greatly appreciated.

My advise is: If you want to work in maternity when you graduate, and you are able to afford the pay cut, go for it now! In my experience, you are much more likely to be hired there when you graduate if you are already known to the unit. Good luck!
