Travelers In Seattle

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I've been a nurse almost 5 years and I have worked at many hospitals, but I have to warn nurses about Virginia Mason in Seattle, WA. I was very excited about this opportunity, but now I am disappointed.

Although people will hear good things about Virginia Mason, this hospital is terrible for nurses. Of course as a traveler you get floated first, but you will not float to like specialities, not only that, but you float again during your shift.

This hospital will treat you as if you are super inhuman and that nurses must be flexible...flexible I agree, however 5 patients in a Telemetry unit is unsafe and when I say I can't take another patient because I have very sick patients with lots of needs.......I MEAN I CAN'T TAKE ANOTHER PATIENT.

The nurse manager for level 7 and 8 never approached me during my entire assignment.....she could care less what is happening on the floor. Also its as if there is brainwashing to staff nurses that it is like this everywhere, especially new grad RN's. There is sooo much BS at this hospital, lack of compassion for nursing that I've considered a different career.

THIS HOSPITAL UTILIZES TONS OF TRAVELERS, SO ASK YOURSELF WHY? STAY CLEAR OF VIRGINIA MASON AS A TRAVELER. ONE PERK IS THE STAFF NURSES ARE NICE FOR THE MOST PART.

Virginia Mason has a good rep? hahaha where did you hear this? I agree its the worst besides the veteran's hospital of course! My hospital is stealing all of VM's nurses because its way better, newer and lower patient loads (not to mention nurses that weren't found in the dark abyss of hell and aren't underground dwelling troglidites)etc...

Specializes in Medical Telemetry.

screwed up and it won't let me delete :(
