Hello again everyone. For those who don't know again, I am an LPN, and I am currently an LTC Nurse at an LTC/SNF facility. I have been doing this since I was a new grad nurse about a year and a half ago. I am very happy as an LTC floor Nurse. I feel very competent and comfortable in my job and really have no itch to leave and no plans of leaving. I do however often see many job postings for Home Health Visit Nurses/LPNs with great pay and great hours. Home Health has always been another area that I may someday see myself pursuing. Im just wondering any LTC Nurses that transitioned into home health nursing, how was the transition ? At the end of the day Wich setting do you prefer ? Thanks again !

I think that home health can be a good gig for LPN as they usually cannot case manage and perform re-visits and tasks. You just have to be flexible because you may get different patients each day plus a variety of tasks. The biggest struggle is for most folks to be organized and document as documentation in home care is huge.

Thanks for your reply Nutella. I have heard that home health is a much better avenue for LPNs than RNs because LPNs can't do home health admissions at many home health agencies. Nutella, would you say that documentation on Home Health Patients is similar to skilled documentation on nursing home residents ?
