Let me just say OWWWWWWW, it's been 2.5 days and I feel like my arm is going to fall off, ive tried motrin/tylenol/aleve and it still aches :o Thank god it's only once every 10 years!

of strepptococcus pyrogenes going around don't mess with and infection, espcially one "acquired" at a health care facility. Eat lots of garlic and onions they will help deal with the infection until the doctors antibiotics can kick in.

Keep us updated Shelly!

I believe that I accidentally got a PPD with Tetorifice last year. The worst thing I've ever experienced!

Hope you're feeling better soon!

:( I got the keflex on board, and I had a resident look at my arm when I got to work tonight, she agreed, said it was cellulitis, and didn't look too bad, yet, hopefully i caught it in time. I should have gone to the dr yesterday when they were open, but silly me, i thought it would get better! I had ice on it all afternoon and that seemed to help, it's an awkward spot to keep ice on it though, I'm just ready for it to quit hurting :(

Makes me wonder how often 'routine' vaccinations (or other IM injections) become 'routine' healthcare-setting acquired infections.

Anyhow, glad to hear you are taking the abx for it. Just an FYI: my infection was refractive to cephalexin and I ended up on azithromycin. I took plain ibuprofen and also Vicoprofen for the pain, which worked really well. For icing that part of your arm, try one of the Migraine Ice patches--stick them in the fridge beforehand--or ask a veterinarian for equine ice tape, which is made for wrapping the legs of horses but works really well for the upper arm. I couldn't get anything else to stay on.

I had one several years ago and it felt the same way. I used a heating pad when I went to bed. Moist heat.
