Thanks to everyone that replied to Justysmom! I am in the same boat...I start nursing school in January and feel that working in a hospital will benefit me. But, I don't have any prior experience! BBnurse34 mentioned Huc-ing. What is that exactly is that?Thanks again!

Hi shabookitty,

Huc - ing is working as what they used to...and some places still do...as a unit clerk. It's a good way to learn about what goes on, on a unit, and to understand more about medical terms, and procedures. Many unit clerk go on with their education. In fact I know an OB-GYN who start out as a unit clerk. Became an aide...and LPN then RN, the MD. Problem about going this route, is that he used a lot of loans...and owes a lot of money!
