quick question

  1. Hi
I was wondering if someone could help me, I am a first year student nurse and have been asked to ask an RN about intuition and how it affects their practice. Any response would be great

When you know to put in that extra check on a patient but clinical obs say they are ok. You have a feeling about them.

It not scentific but it saves lives

Always follow your instinct and listen to that little voice. If something "just doesn't seem right", most of the time it isn't.

There was a really good article about intuition and health care in Reader's Digest about six to eight months ago. The article was about a study that was done to investigate this topic and the findings were basically that intuition was not really intuition but past experiences/past memories of similar situations in the back of your mind triggering you to do that extra check, run that extra test, etc. You might want to check that out.
