Questions about Nursing School from a Pre-nursing student

  1. Hey everyone,

I am a pre-nursing student and will be applying to nursing school next fall. I was told by my advisor that it looks good to have some experience in a hospital. I have tried to look for jobs available in hospitals but it seems like everything requires experience. So I was just wondering if it is that important to have experience in a hospital before applying to nursing school and if it is how to go about finding a job. Thanks!

Yes and no, it shouldn't be a hinderance from being accepted to nursing school. You could also volunteer at a hospital. Sometimes scholorships are given to volunteers as well so it is a win win situation. also when you do graduate that gives you a leg up on the competition

In my state now it is mandatory for all nursing student applicants to have one year of CNA experience. That can be hospital or LTC or what not. So from what I hear it is a good experience to have and now mandated.

I wished I had worked in healthcare before I chose...I really could have used that insight to judge my path!
