Question about nursing shoes

Can anyone give me any advice on what type of shoes I should buy for clinicals? I see all these different kinds and do not know which one to get. I have issues with my feet already. I have heel spurs and one day clogs seem to be the right and other days rubber shoes are better. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have Birkenstock Super Birkis, and Dansko Professional Shoes. Love both, have heard lots of good things from other people about both.

There are many discussions about shoes on here, so if you do a search, you should be able to find tons of info! :)

I am going to second that have a few pairs Professional Berki's a a pair and Dansko's, and love them very much!!!!!!! :balloons:

The z-coils I just bought a couple of weeks ago have solved my foot pain completely. They are great. There have been many threads on shoes, do a search and see what you come up with.

I've worn Birkis and Dansko for a while and they are both very good, but my favorites are the KLOGS brand of clogs. They're a lot cheaper too...about $48.00 and they are very comfortable.

Specializes in CCU, SICU, CVSICU, Precepting & Teaching.

Danskos -- expensive, but truly worth it.

Specializes in Renal, Haemo and Peritoneal.

From the Aussie perspective Blundstone boots can't be beaten.

Closed, durable and fairly priced. My last pair lasted me 3 yrs of daily wear to work for $90.00 in some seriously bloody situations!

Stay away from clogs. You need a good closed shoe with lots of support around the heel and in the arch. And, go with a squared off toe too.

Spurs can be very painful, but not nearly as painful as a broken ankle when the shoe comes off as you are "running" down the hall to an emergency.
