question about licensing in md or anywhere

Nurses General Nursing

Published

i was planning on going to nursing school next june. i already have a bs in biology and i wanted to get into an accelerated bsn program. but i just found out that i may not be able to get in because i plead guilty to a disorderly persons offense here in nj. is that considered a crime and is it true that if you are convicted of shoplifting you cannot become a nurse? my charge wasn't for shoplifting it was orignally a hindering charge but it was knocked down to a disorderly persons offense. please can someone let me know asap. i really would like to know if i ruined my life over something so dumb and of course if i was able to afford a lawyer at the time they would have dismissed the charge but of course you have to be rich in order to get anything done. Thank you in advance for your help.

The best advise I or anyone else here can give you is to contact your local BON and ask them your questions. Every application is handled individually. Good luck!!!!

We are unable to offer legal advice here.

Recommend that you contact the BON directly where you wish to get licensed and discuss it with them. Each case is discussed on its own merits and only the BON has any say on what they will do.

Best of luck to you.
