Pregnant New Grad

I was just licensed a week ago and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth applying for jobs being eight months pregnant... Some people in my class have been waiting months to hear back for an interview, but others get jobs fairly quickly.. Just wanted to hear some second opinions. I'm in So California if that matters...

Congratulations on the little baby.

I haven't a clue how to answer. I do know that so cal is super flooded with new grads.

I would apply regardless- they can start your orientation after you recover. You don't want too much time to lapse between graduating and applying for positions.

I don't think I would....

Eight months is when you typically take off work to have a baby. Beyond that, you can't hide your pregnancy at this point and can only estimate when you might actually be available for work.

I'm eight months pregnant, too ....how in the world do you have the energy??? :dead:

If it's a new grad program with a start date well into the future, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. You're already in a tough market, though- even under ideal (not pregnant) circumstances.

Congratulations and good luck! :)

I wouldn't expect to get hired in at 8 months along. Most likely you won't even be able to finish orientation before baby arrives (congrats by the way - I too am 8 months along). However this does not mean you shouldn't apply. You never know how long the hiring process/application process can take. Good luck and kudos for not letting this pregnancy slow you down.

Thank you for the congrats and congrats to all those in my same boat! :) I'm applying and hoping I'll find something less demanding. So fingers crossed!
