hi im trying to enroll back into nursing school but im 3 months pregnant. but when i call and told the school they were real snobby about it and when i was there our classroom was pregnant haven. basically im asking for some advice, my due date is may 2010. should i wait to go to school or what?:up:???????

I say go back, go for it. We had girls that were pregnant while I was in school. One even had her baby while still in school. Only thing was she was back really soon....came back ASAP, but she did fine. Good Luck with your decision.

I don't see any reason why you should feel like you have to wait. My only concern would be whether or not you were to deliver during the term (as opposed to between semesters).

I am 11 weeks pregnant right now, and it has not been a problem so far. I am due to deliver 4 weeks after Spring semester gets out for a 3 month summer break. My husband and I planned it perfectly and are obviously blessed with awesome fertility.

Anyways, you can PM me any time you want. This was a very hard decision for me to make but I eventually gave it to God and told myself that if it wasn't meant to be then it wouldn't happen. There are stories around here of women who were pregnant during nursing school and even delivered during the semester and did just fine. It can be done! But definitely don't expect or even think for one second that the school is going to support or encourage it. Many of my classmates are struggling to get by, so imagine the professors point of view about pregnancy during school. They tell us over and over to take care of ourselves, reduce our stress and get plenty of sleep and we all know that those 3 things are compromised during pregnancy and can directly impact your nursing education. If you know your learning abilities and have great confidence that you can do nursing school and have a baby at the same time then don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Since I am not showing yet my classmates are going to be very surprised when we return from winter break to find out that I am pregnant. The cool thing is that I won't have to defend myself against their judgments because I am kicking butt in the program so far. I tend to worry about dealing with the judgments of others for some reason, and I hate it.

I was pg during nursing school. I found out I was pg in April 2008 towards the end of my second to last semester of school, had the summer off, returned in the fall for my last semester and had my DD literally days after finishing school. Our last day of class was December 5 and she was born December 9. Our pinning ceremony was the day after I got home from the hospital. I also worked 32 hrs/week as a CNA during all this. I won't lie, it wasn't easy but it can be done. Good luck.

It all depends on what is most important to you. It will be difficult to do basically everything that entails being a new mom, it can be done but you have to work a lot harder. Breastfeeding will be difficult (if you choose to do so, which hopefully you will :p), being away from your newborn will be emotionally difficult, and childcare might be difficult depending on your situation.

I am prepared to start school this Spring but my due date is in January. I already have a three year old so I kind of know the drill, but every baby is different. My only advice to you: don't look at anyone else as an example. Some people could have the most wonderful recovery and the best-tempered babies while others could have to journey through hell.

Realistically think about whether you can do this now, and list the pros and cons of starting school now as opposed to waiting. My daughter is already 3, and time flies. If you do decide to go to school I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you get to spend as much time with your new baby as you can.

I was pregnant starting nursing school. I gave birth on christmas break, 3 days after taking my finals for the fall semester. It was worth it. Who cares what they think. If you give birth in may you might not even miss any school and then have summer break to take care of the little one. It is up to you, but I would stay in school.

I would think a lot would depend on the kind of family/friend support you have. Otherwise, go for it.

Believe me, the "school" may have issues with all sorts of things. You are in this for YOU, not them, so their bias is not a concern.

Definately stay in school! I am 6 months pregnant with my third and I just started college in Aug. I am going for my LPN and my pregnancy was a surprise! I had planned on JUST school since my other 2 children are a little older. I was disappointed at first, but told myself I wouldn't let being pregnant get in the way. My instructors don't really care and they won't if they see that you are serious about getting your degree. Go for it! You won't regret it.
