Positive Thoughts

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I have been reading so many threads lately and it seems everyone hates nursing and their career choice. I would think it is very discouraging to read that over and over and am beginning to think that just like when you are working with a group of negative people your positive thoughts diminish soooooo....

I am not saying I love every aspect of my job however after reading alot of the recent posts I can say I count my blessings that I have the job that I do have. I know things could be different with management, schedule and general work environment to make things better at times however I do believe that the grass isnt always greener on the other side so to speak and I feel that ask anyone in any profession and they will also feel they have it rough.

In general I feel very appreciated by the patients and their families, love my co-workers, management does listen on a individual basis and I am very well paid for my time. I think some other positive thoughts needs to be expressed in order to pick up the good aspects of nursing because like I said earlier when you are surrounded by negativity then the positive feelings diminish.

Happy Holidays!

;)

I never said I let others form my perception of things but you have to agree that if you are working around positive people its much more pleasant than working about negative people and that being said I still say I am not blind to the negative things about nursing and the healthcare system however once in awhile alittle positive has to come out however somehow the negative overrides it....just like this thread.....it started out on a positive note but some still had to bring up negative things instead of just letting that go and doing like mother used to always tell us....if you have nothing good to say then dont say anything at all. Im not saying that should be the case on this board but could it just once be the case in this thread?

Well, I guess I'm reading a different thread than you are, then. Because I saw some positive words about nursing in every post I've read in this thread so far. What more are you asking for? Every nurse that has responded on here so far has said that they have love for nursing, they just hate to see some of the things that take away from their ability to do their job, which is to take care of our patients. How is that negative?

I guess you want somebody to say, "Yipeee, I loooooooooove nursing, hooray !" Well, obviously, we love nursing, or we wouldn't still be in it. And trust me, I would bet most of us are not staying in it for the money. Anytime somebody comes here to express their frustrations, I feel that that IS positive. It's good for the nurse and it enables them to go back and face another day. Please remove those rose-colored glasses you are wearing. They are distorting your view.

Kanani Ikike------my apoligizies---I reread all the posts in this thread and I did see all the positive comments regarding nursing. There was one post that I read that I took the wrong way when I read it the first time.

Kymmi, no need to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong. Actually, I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, myself. I just want you to realize that in the end, most nurses really love what they do. They just get frustrated because they are prevented from doing the job they set out to do due to politics. It makes you want to scream so days. But allnurses is a good venue to erupt and then be able to go back to work the next day. ;)
