philly to florida

I'm a philly nurse moving to south florida. Just wanted to ask for advice.... Are the people more friendly? Rude? I'll take any and all advice. What are cool things to do in South Florida? I know its going to be quite of an adjustment for me. I'm only used to the tristate area but a little more on the friendlier side than most...

Been there, just did that. I'm over by Tampa and St Pete so not really south Florida, but I'm from the Philly area. From a nursing perspective, I find where I've worked in FL a lot more challenging than where I worked in Philly. Nurse patient ratios are higher, expectations for care are lower, so you spend a lot of time advocating for your patients for things you shouldn't have to advocate for, and to top it off you get paid in sunshine. You can take all of this with a grain of salt, as it is just my opinion from my own experiences. I'm obviously hopeful I'll find a job that works for me or I wouldn't have made a permanent move, but for now, I plan to keep working as a traveler for a little bit so I can work elsewhere til I find a health system that I like here in FL.

If you're moving in the next couple of months and don't have a job yet, you could look into working as a traveler for the busy winter season, so you can test out where you want to work.
