Peer Review Botch

  1. I was recently sent to Peer Review for a patient safety issue. I admittedly took a stable (though "critical care" per orders entered into EMR) to CT wiithout a portable monitor, though I accompanied her. There was no adverse event and the patient went on to have a successful hospital course and is doing well. I was told nothing about the allegation and was basically required to defend myself without fully knowing what the claim was. Additionally, my facility does not have a policy regarding transport to and from CT from ED.

The Peer Review still found me "guilty" and decided to send me to the Board. Their account after I defended myself was worse than the initial claim. But it's their word against mine and I am terrified. Also, upon further review of the Peer Review sections on Texas BON website, I should have been able to see much more of the allegations and should have been able to ask questions, etc. The findings of the Review deem me "unsafe" but I am still working without stipulation or reprimand and the Director of the ED sat with me for FIVE hours basically dictating my rebuttal. I don't understand how this is happening when I am still working and my immediate supervisors find no fault.

Has anyone been through this? Can I lose my license?? I am looking for direction and any insight!

Either there's a lot more to it, or they REALLY, REALLY hate you. Maybe someone you work with will come along ...there's enough detail here that you should be easily identifiable to someone who knows you.
