One month Notice?????

Anyone here heard of working out a one month notice???? I have heard of three weeks at the longest, but pretty much thought 2 weeks was the "standard". This seems strange to me.....:uhoh3:

Our hospital requires it if you want to be considered as having left in good standing. They can't MAKE you, you can quit and just not show up the next day; but it just doesn't look good if you want to return at some point, or if you need an employer reference.

Our schedules are made for 30 days at a time, so if someone quits and gives less than 30 days, we often end up working short the rest of that schedule. Also, orientation to the floor takes up to 2 weeks for a transfer from within the hospital, 6 weeks or more for a new hire; giving a minimum of a months notice helps facilitate the process for your replacement. And frankly, we all know how fast human resources works....

Where I am we have to give a 30-day notice. It's spelled out pretty clear in our employee handbook.

If you don't have to start a new job within that four weeks, then why not stay. If you do have to start a new job, then screw 'em. They don't need four weeks to find a replacement unless you are some kind of super nurse Florence Nightingale. I mean, come on. :uhoh3:
