Hello to all you fine nurses! I have been contemplating going into nursing for quite somtime and I think I am finally ready to take the plunge! I spoke with a recruiter from a community college in the area today and she spoke of haveing to take the NLN exam before admission. I was just wondering what is the NLN exactly and what is the best way to prepare? Thank you in advance, and I would also like to say I think this site is great and it is really awsome how you guys support each other. HAPPY NURSING!!!

The NLN is the National League of Nursing. I'm not sure but I think you are referring to a pre-admissions test to get into the nursing program. Correct? If so, a pre-admission exam is written by the NLN. You can buy practice guides at the book store. I've seen them at Barnes & Noble. I believe the pre-admission exam is used to gauge an applicants current knowledge in general education (math, reading, comprehension, etc.). Someone else may know more than I do about it.

Best of luck to you

Linda

You can buy prep books, but the test is not nearly as comprehensive as the books go.

People on the "student nursing" forum would be most up to date on questions like this, since many of them have taken it recently.

The test is like the SATs from high school. Just the basics. Not bad at all for me. ( I took it 2 years ago)
