Hello there,

I'm new, just became and RN and stepping into the nursing world.

I live in South Texas. There are many hospitals in the area. I'm just wondering

if anyone has worked in the area? If so, I'd like to know which hospital has a good reputation to work for or who not to work for. Also, what is the starting pay? benefits? and what is the raise percentage like? (i have school loans to pay, I'd like to get the best deal) I applied to Doctors Hospital at renaissance (or) and Rio grande Valley. I'll also be applying at Valley Baptist. Thank you so much for your time!

Wish me good luck! and give me some tips about my first days of work!!

Thanks in advance!!

you may not be able to pick as a GN. Hospitals can only hire a specific number at a time or the units would not have any seasoned nurses on staff. My suggestion is to ask the HR people once you get interviewed. Hope that is soon for you

Hi, rgvgirl! Are you still in the RGV? I'm a new RN in Brownsville & I'm posting the same questions you did in 2013. Do you have any insights to share about employers in the area? Thanks and I hope life has treated you well.
