New graduate nurse in CO.... It's possible!!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi everyone,

I graduated in December from FRCC. Took my NCLEX in January passed and just got my first job!

From posts I"ve read, the job market in Denver is slim. Although that is true, it is not impossible!

I've worked at St. Anthony hospital for over a year as a patient sitter and just got hired on. I worked float, and have a new manger so I didn't really have any connections to this job. What I did was send in resumes and cover letters and contacted every nurse manager through email and in person! I stayed persistent and made sure I was personable and confident during my interview.

Also, new grads apply for every position!!!. A lot of positions say one year experience preferred... Still apply, can't hurt to do so!

And I got a job as an ADN, it is possible!! I'm enrolled in a BSN program too, be persistent and don't get down if you're rejected!

I work night time float!

Start at $26 , $4 night differential and $1 float diff

Took 2 weeks to get a job after I received my RN license number !
