I was considering going to nursing school to be a RN. I was woundering if someone could tell me a little about it, like what typ of hours you work, how many days a week, and starting pay.

I live in south east Louisiana and will be attending classes at Nunez then Holly Cross

54 views and not one reply. I guess nobody here wants me to be a RN.

be careful what you wish for..............i would give SERIOUS thought about volunteering in a hospital, working in a nursing home, or other patient care area to get some experience before undertaking such an endeavor. many find, to their chagrin, that this profession is NOT what they had imagined....."caveat emptor".......

You may want to make your question more focussed. Typical pay, hours and days worked and what a usual day is like would be as varied as there are jobs out there. There really is no typical day or job. Good luck.Volunteering or becoming a CNA would give you a better idea of the job.

Some jobs are 12 hour shifts, some are 8 hour shifts.

How do you feel about working night shifts? Alternating day shifts, then night shifts? Working weekends?

There are so many areas of nursing to consider - there is the "specialty" tab up above that lists a lot of the specific areas of nursing that you might interesting.
