Hello fellow Nurses,

My name is Daphne, I received my nursing license in January 2009, I lack the

work experience and therefore cannot get a nursing job, I am so desperate that I am willing to do CNA work just to get my foot in the door. I am currently working on my BSN, but in the mean time I need the experience.

I am in Orange County, California. If you have any information or cimments for me it would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Ohio, so I can't really speak for Cali, but I know when I was looking at internships around here, there were none for CNAs or LPNs - every single one was geared towards RNs with a BSN. I called a few hospitals, but the best results came simply from "nursing internship, columbus oh" on google, so I'd say you should start there with your own area. It will give you an idea of what's available and if there's anything you can apply for right now.

Specializes in Med Surg, ICU, home&pub health, pvt duty.

You did not say what type of facility you wanted to intern in. I am going to assume you want an acute facility. LVNs normally do not work in acute care in Calif. LVNs are relegated to long term, clinics, home health, hospice, and private duty. I face the same situation as you. Since you are in nursing school, you qualify as a student nurse working in an acute care facility--and they pay you to boot. Check with the hospital and/or county, city, or VA. I know that LA county and city has such a program. :twocents:

Best to you
