My friend worked at a hugh hospital in our city as a nurse intern when she was in school. After she graduated 7 years ago, she needed the more flexible scheduling of a nursing home so she went to a LTC and has worked in one ever since. She's a great RN, she can go to any LTC and get a job offer on the spot, but says she can't get a hospital job to save her life. Her situation compelled me to apply to a hospital right away after graduation. I'm not discrediting LTC nurses, was one myself for many years but wanted a change. I don't understand this. She has excellent organizational, assessment, and leadership skills. Her hands-on might be a little rusty. I'm trying to be supportive, but running out of encouraging things to say.
