There have traditionally been 5 right to medication administration. Someone today told me there are now 6 rights but they don't seem to klnow what the new one is. Is this true? and if so what is the new right?

We learned 8 and the hospital has them posted at the PYXIS

Right Pt

Right time

Right dose

Right route

Right to refuse

Right to know

Right documentation

right documentation is the last. I was originally taught 5 too, then the following year in school, they sprung the 6th one on us.

Obviously each school teaches different things.. But it was in a text book about the 7rights, so maybe there are 8... :)
