Is becoming a nurse for me?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am having hard time deciding whether or not to become a nurse. I had started out as a nursing major in college and went back to it a few times so I have majority of the pre-reqs for my local RN programs completed. I ended up completed my Bachelors Degree in Psychology and now have a full time desk job.

I have been done with school for a year now and am finding myself thinking about going back to nursing school. I am having a hard time deciding if I should give up my full time job to go back to school and take out quite a bit in loans to become a nurse. I have done a little bit of shadowing at a local hospital but I am not sure if that experience is enough to change my whole life. Does anyone have any recommendations of things that may help me decide?

Thank you so much for your time and any advice you can offer!

Personally, with the market being as is described by so many new grads here, I couldn't imagine recommending that someone take out loans for nursing school when the job prospects are so poor.

from what i read, nursing opportunities are going to depend on where you live in the country.

i would discourage you from listening to school advisors, since they are going to want you to apply to their program.

just do some research and see if there is a shortage or surplus of nurses.

only then, can you make a prudent decision.

wishing you the best.:)
