Don't stress over this. Once you get the hang of it, summaries are easy to do. You are basically taking information that has been given to you, condensing it and restating the main points in your own words.

There's plenty of guides online regarding summaries. Most pertain to articles and stories, but you can adapt the information for medical procedures as well.

This is what you need to do:

  1. Read the original writing / procedure carefully. Read it more than once to make sure you understand it completely.
  2. Take the information you read, find the main points and group them into related sections. If you are doing a step by step procedure, it should already be broken out for you.
  3. Now for each section or step, write a one or two sentence summary capturing the main points and ideas.

  4. Rinse and repeat until all sections / steps have been summarized…. And tada! You’re done. :D

I would recommend checking with your professor to see how much detail he/she wants you to include in the summary.

Good luck!

thank you ! i will practice this tonight!:specs:
