Hypertension/Kidney function

Nurses General Nursing

Published

OK all you seasoned veterans, I need some suggestions.

I have to submit a BRIEF overview on "the effects of UNTREATED hypertension on kidney function."

I don't need anything to big and God knows it can't be to medical  as the rest of the class is not on the nursing track and I don't want to lose anyone's interest.

Thanks in advance for any info you may have!

Good luck. You will need to throw some medical into the presentation, it is the nature of the beast.

I always use a few minutes at triage for education when somone with elevated BP comes through. Esp if it is a young black male. Just a short talk to tell them to watch their pressure, see a doctor if it doesn't get better and that allowing it to go unchecked can result in blindness, kidney disease/failure (which leads to dialysis) and impotenence (which makes them pay attention).

Here are a couple of sites for you to look at for some ideas.
