We are supposed to answer the phone as thus:

"Good morning (what ever time of day it is), G_____ Elder Care, Home of the best care ever, M______C______, This is so and so, how might I help you this beautiful day????????

I kid you not.

Most people are lucky if they get , "Yo, what?" out of us.

BLECHHHHHHHHHHHH..

Specializes in Critical Care.

You mean we are supposed to answer the Phone? LOL

How about, "You are bothering the nurse right now and taking away from patient care" or "How may I direct this annoying call"

hahahahaha ok, just having a little fun

Specializes in Mostly LTC, some acute and some ER,.

for the record I only wrote that to see what people would say. . . . I do hate talking on the phone though, and I wish I could say that lol I say "Skilled Nursing, this is Amanda."

Non-hectic night: "ER, fab4fan"

Hectic night (i.e., most nights): "ER"

Just my dept, name and title. That way they know if they're talking to an aide, clerk or RN. No other nicey-nice crap.
