Hospitals with Staff Activities Committee

Hi all,

Do any of you work at a hospital that has a committee of nurses and others who coordinate hospital-wide activities as well as outings for staff? Or, are you a member of a committee like this. If so, what kind of activities have you planned? Does it help with morale? Is it fun?!

My hospital has a committee that specifically plans according to a certain event (i.e) Nurse's Week, but we do not have 1 group that plans a variety of things.

The organization that previously owned our hospital had what was called the "consultative forum," consisting of elected members from each department, and was not limited to nursing staff. We were involved in resolving conflict situations, issues relating to patient care, and social events. We liaised with management at regular intervals (if memory serves, every 3 months) to discuss staff concerns and to make recommendations.

I consider it an excellent morale builder and an effective tool in promoting team-building.

Sadly, our hospital was bought out by a company that does not subscribe to the democratic management model, so our CF has ceased to exist....

We used to do volunteer activities together, most were family friendly. It did a lot for morale and you got to meet people from other departments. There was usually a get together after for us to mingle.
