We need suggestions on how to document drug withdraws on John Doe or those who do not have an account # yet. How are other facilities doing this to meet DEA standards? We are being surveyed soon and we want to make sure that we are in compliance. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!

It's beel awhile since I worked with a Pyxis. But, isn't there the capacity to put in their birthdate in place of the account #... temporarily? I remember doing that when I worked on the units in CA and MN.

We have the ability to add the pt's into our pyxis. So, one way to do it is to add the pt yourself, using something you can remember, such as the room number the pt is in. Then once the pt gets into the system you can go back and change the name of your fake pt back to the real pt. After that he will be in there twice, but it should allow for accountability, and allow the pharmacy to get the right charges to the right pt. Talk to your pyxis guru on how to do this.
