getting a job in a hospital

Nurses General Nursing

Hey, I work prn in LTC. I am wanting to go and work at a local hospital so that I can get hosptial experience also. I am a CNA/PCT and am working on my RN. The local hospital is hard to get a job at, unless you know someone and can talk to their manager and they tell Human Resources that they want you. Well I dont know anyone there and want a job. I have put in two application and never got a call back. Who should I call? Should I call the unit where I want to work and ask for the Manager or what? And then just talk to her and tell her or him that I am interested in a job and that was told that was the best way to do it. THanks for any help?

I would try talking to the Nurse recruiter.. that is who I went through and she personally told me that they prefer to give jobs to people who are in nursing school or plan on going into the field... Try that.. It can't hurt

Emphasis the fact that you are wanting to work there after you graduate (whether this is true or not). Where I work that is the strongest selling point in hiring CNA's/Nurse Techs. They snatch up nursing students in a heartbeat, offer them cool benefits like free education. Good luck.
